When viewed in hindsight, my decision to become a literary agent makes perfect sense: I love discovering books and writers with distinct voices and points of view, and as I wasn’t planning on becoming a minister or priest after graduating from Harvard Divinity School, an assistant position in the Literary Department at the William Morris Agency was a fortuitous choice. One of the first books I ever sold was written by a fellow Div School alum.
From that auspicious beginning, I branched out to also represent romance novels, commercial women’s fiction, cooking and food writing, in addition to serious nonfiction on religious and spiritual topics. I appreciate a smart and quirky sense of humor and have represented novels told from the point of view of a dog.
I was the agent for Mother Teresa’s COME BE MY LIGHT: The Private Writings of the “Saint of Calcutta” and WHERE THERE IS LOVE, THERE IS GOD.
I represent Clotilde Dusoulier, Rachel Gibson, Glenn Meade, Travis Thrasher, Melanie Wallace, and The Cupcake Diaries by Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne.
Some of the books I represent include:
Rachel Gibson’s Rescue Me
Glenn Meade’s The Second Messiah
Mother Teresa’s COME BE MY LIGHT: The Private Writings of the “Saint of Calcutta”
